The author thinks this picture ressembles an alien planet’s landscape. I think this looks like some sci-fi version of the future.

a shanghai façade cleaning team, by arnd dewald. as I said before, if you like shanghai, you might take a look at his flickr stream. it’s got some incredible shots.
this one reminds me of some pictures I saw of the french spider-man, alain robert, on renzo pianos new york times building. I read an article somewhere (was it on life without buildings ?) about how spider-man is this larger than life figure, and how a person is incredibly smaller than a building.

After returning from Shanghai I spent a lot of time exasperatedly explaining to people who hadn’t been just how big the place was, and really never found an appropriate analogy or explanation to describe its size and intensity - until now…
I just saw this over at the Incredible Smoking Cinnamon Sticks, and I think it’s the most awesome thing I’ve seen all week, it’s essentially Good Maps mixed with Sim City where they’ve illustrated quite a large portion of Shanghai, large enough, that it took me a quite a while to locate the business district. (which is much the same story as when you’re there in person) .
Below is a shot of the Expo site, including the British Pavilion (top left), The Denmark Pavilion (bottom right), The Swiss Pavilion (Top Right) and The Dutch Pavilion (below the British). You can explore the rest of the city here.

(Thanks again Nic)!
